“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” -Plato

Sharing music with my students is a journey, a great joy and an essential part of who I am. I love watching my students learn, grow and discover new possibilities when making music. I aim to inspire students to be the best pianists they can grow into, to instill the love of music for a lifetime and to make music in a healthy, mindful and efficient way.

What I love the most about this profession is connecting with my students and how much I learn from who they are and how they see the world.

What Dr. Nieto’s Students Are Saying

“I thoroughly enjoy taking piano lessons from Fernanda. I am an older student and Fernanda makes learning to play the piano easier with her great since of humor, wit and patience.”

— Barbara

“Fernanda has helped me tremendously with interpretation: from works of Bach to Albeniz; she works with me clarify the composer's goal for the piece and the necessary subtlety of the style of the period.”

— Carol

“Dr. Fernanda Nieto was gracious enough to adjudicate my entire studio and give them inspirational comments to help further their achievements in piano! Thanks Fernanda!”

— Dominik

“Dr. Nieto was my piano pedagogy professor at MSU Denver, back when it was still Metro State. My piano pedagogy class was one of the most demanding classes I took and was also one of my favorite classes. I learned so much in that class that I use to this day and know that I will continue to use as long as I teach. She sees potential in her students and pushes them to excel, sometimes past where they believe they can go. She prepared me for my senior recital and I'm very grateful to her for her guidance and mentorship.”

— Beth

“I have 6 children ranging from twin daughters who are 18 to a youngest daughter who is age 5. I have an equal split between boys and girls. All of my children have studied piano from an early age. We began to work with Fernanda about 3 years ago. She began with my boys and I soon realized the difference between a good pianist and a good pianist and teacher. She knows how to recognize deficiencies and build a foundation while challenging the student to the next level. My older daughters would watch how their brothers were improving with sight reading and rhythm and asked to be her students. Just recently, my last and youngest daughter began learning under her and I am constantly amazed how she adjusts to each age level. As an attorney, I appreciate her education, professionalism and accomplishments as a pianist yet as a mother appreciate her ability to teach.”

— Catherine

“Fernanda is wonderful! She is an inspiring, fun and energetic teacher. She not only teaches our daughter technique, but also discipline and resilience. We love how Fernanda encourages our daughter’s creativity and passion for music. It brings us such joy to hear our 8 year-old play pieces she’s composed on her own and see how proud she is to share her music.”

— Rachel

“Our 6 year old son has been able to thrive with Fernanda despite starting lessons during the pandemic and having to learn remotely. Fernanda has an amazing ability to teach children and reach them at a level suitable for them and their for their own unique situations. She encourages and inspires her students to be their best all while holding them accountable to their goals. We could not be more pleased with how our son has and continues to succeed in his piano skills.”
